Today, on March 18, 2022, the members of the Austrian Academy of Sciences elected Heinz Faßmann with an absolute majority as their new president.
The internationally recognized expert for migration and integration research, urban geography and spatial planning will take over from quantum physicist Anton Zeilinger, who will hand over the reins on July 1, 2022, after his statutory two terms in office.
"Together as a team, we will continue to move the Academy forward."
