At the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and the University of Vienna, Markus Aspelmeyer seeks to bridge the gap between Albert Einstein's theory of gravity and modern quantum physics. Despite all his success, he has never lost his joy in and curiosity about his field of research. He sees the "Austrian Nobel Prize" above all as an incentive to answer even more open questions and to create new opportunities for Austria's world-class research to compete in the Champions League of science, as he said in a recent interview.
