Markus Aspelmeyer Highlights Austrian Quantum Research in Washington
Markus Aspelmeyer was among the featured speakers at the 4th Global Quantum Strategies Overview, hosted by the Embassy of Austria in Washington, D.C., on September 22, 2026, ahead of the Quantum World Congress 2026.
Aspelmeyer, Scientific and Executive Director of IQOQI Vienna, and Francesca Ferlaino, Scientific Director of IQOQI Innsbruck, presented Austria's quantum strategy and joined international experts from academia, government, and industry to discuss advances in quantum information science and technology and the importance of international collaboration.
The event also highlighted Austria's leading role in quantum research, including investments in major research infrastructure such as the Quantum Cube, expected to be completed in 2027, and the planned Quantum Technology Center Vienna, scheduled for 2033.
Hosted in partnership with the Science Diplomacy Grid, the gathering strengthened connections between the Austrian and international quantum communities.
