The positivity problem in quantum many-body systems is the difficulty of representing the positivity of the state with a tensor network. Namely, not enforcing the positivity on the local tensors leads to theoretical and numerical challenges, but enforcing it generally comes at a very high price. In this talk I will explain this problem, mention several results, and mention its connections to other mathematical problems. I will also explain some ideas and perspectives to shed new light on it.
