Making the Invisible Visible: Macroscopic Quantum Phenomena in Electric Circuits

In this talk, I will cover the research conducted by J. Clarke, M.H. Devoret, and J. M. Martinis that was acknowledged with the Nobel Prize in Physics this year.

We will also look at the broader context and see how the demonstration of macroscopic tunneling and state quantization sparked the field of superconducting artificial atoms.
