"Essay contest Prize 2018" of the APS for Flavio Del Santo

The 2018 "Essay contest Prize 2018" promoted by the Forum for the History of Physics (FHP) of the American Physical Society (APS) was granted to Flavio Del Santo, Ph.D. student at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information.

Flavio Del Santo obtained this prize for his essay "Striving for Realism, not for Determinism: Historical Misconceptions on Einstein and Bohm.", In his work, highly praised by the competition judges, Del Santo showed that contrarily to the standard narrative, Einstein's and Bohm's philosophical concern was in fact primarily realism and not determinism. The competition also provides a stipend of $1,000, and the essay will be published on "APS News".
